I got this red one from my dad
Way back in 2010.
It stayed with me through college.
I used it now and then.
It joined all my adventures
In Cali and then Greenland,
New Orleans then to Boston,
Where my kinship with it deepened
It was so important,
My old red 6-in-1 tool
To take apart pianos
While I attended trade school.
But years went by and we worked hard
And tho' 'twas hard to face it
The time eventually came
When I had to replace it.
My rosy pal was failing
The metal turned to jell-o
And so I bought another one
Hello yellow fellow!
What memories we may create
Well, we will have to see
We'll take on life together,
My screwdriver and me!
